Sunday School

On Sunday morning we offer Sunday School for kids up through 6th grade DURING OUR WORSHIP Service.  We do this because we want everyone who comes to sovG to have a meaningful learning experience.  Our Worship Service starts at 10AM and kids are generally dismissed around 10:20AM, rejoining parents at the close of the service.

A Note To Parents

At sovG we believe students are important, really important.Lots of churches have programs. At sovG, we have a youth program too, but what we’re focused on is relationships.

Relationships are the key.As a parent we understand there is nothing more precious to you than your children. At some point, kids generally stop listening to their parents and rely on other voices. This is where we at sovG come in. We want to walk beside parents and partner with you.

We believe there are five things that every student needs:

  1. A really big God they can trust no matter what. Kids should grow up knowing that God is big enough to handle whatever they may face.
  2. Someone else who believes what they believe. Kids need friends who will encourage them to grow in their faith.
  3. Another voice saying the same things parents say. As children grow older it becomes more important to have other adults in their lives as spiritual mentors and leaders.
  4. Uncommon Sense to help them make wise choices. God’s point of view and His truth should become the filter for how kids view life and make decisions.
  5. Nosy Parents who know where their kids are spiritually. Kids need parents who will be intentional about spending time together as a family and staying actively involved in their children’s spiritual growth.

As a church, we know we have a limited amount of time to partner with you and to make an impact (and investment) in your children's lives. Therefore sovG strategically plans our a weekly youth group. We have activities as well as devotions, but what we do has a purpose. In addition to our weekly youth group we also offer a monthly service opportunity and two to four retreats a year.  We encourage you to support these opportunities.  Together, with prayer and God’s grace, we hope to add value to your family and depth to your children’s walk with the Lord.

The teaching or devo time with the kids generally tracks with what is talked about in our weekly worship service.  In addition to this there are seven areas that we repeatedly cycle through and teach on every year.  They are:

  1. Authentic Faith--Putting Your Trust In God
  2. Spiritual Disciplines--Seeing With God's Eyes
  3. Moral Boundaries--Paving The Way For Intimacy
  4. Healthy Friendships--Choosing Friends For Life
  5. Wise Choices--Walking Wisely In A Fool's World
  6. Ultimate Authority--Finding Freedom Under God
  7. Others First--Considering Others Before Yourself

A Note To Students

We’ll keep this short and sweet. At sovG we’ll do everything we can to keep it real.Generally we’re fun, funny and can deliver real and even deep content to you in an engaging way. We’re not known for being lame, boring, inauthentic or patronizing. We realize you’ve got a lot going on and we’d like to get to know you and walk with you.We know you’ll click with some people and not with others. We try to provide solid leaders you can get to know and trust. We’re dedicated to doing whatever we can to help you journey through junior high and high school. If you’ve got questions or need to talk, we’re here.If you just need to get out of the house, we understand.  We look forward to meeting and hanging with you.
