Sticky Faith Book DiscussionWhy do 80% of students, who confessed a faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, walk away from the church and their faith by the time they graduate from college? What is it that makes faith “stick”? What can parents do to best “raise their children in godliness”. A great new book, Sticky Faith by Dr. Kara Powell, explores this issue and so will we with our Sunday morning preaching series. Join our North Shore Tuesday Night Book Discussion beginning on Tuesday April 10 for a 9 week Book Club.

The Circle MakerOur Lead pastor met with author and pastor Mark Batterson in Washington DC in November of 2011 to talk about Batterson's new book, The Circle Maker.  The Sunday after Labor Day (September 11, 2012) sovG will launch a four week message series and Small Group Discussion based on the principles found in Mark's book.  Here's a description of what's to come:

Dream Big. Pray Hard. Think Long.  According to Pastor Mark Batterson in his book, The Circle Maker, “Drawing prayer circles around our dreams isn’t just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for God. It’s a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us.” Do you ever sense that there’s far more to prayer, and to God’s vision for your life, than what you’re experiencing? It’s time you learned from the legend of Honi the Circle Maker—a man bold enough to draw a circle in the sand and not budge from inside it until God answered his prayers for his people. What impossibly big dream is God calling you to draw a prayer circle around? Sharing inspiring stories from his own experiences as a circle maker, The Circle Maker Series will help you uncover your heart’s deepest desires and God-given dreams and unleash them through the kind of audacious prayer that God delights to answer.
God Honors Bold Prayers because Bold Prayers Honor God
